Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but this “cutie” caught the eye of quite a few doll enthusiasts who saw a photograph of a baby named Lyla Grace in our fifth annual Baby Photo Contest. With thousands of entries, her picture, submitted by her proud mother, was the fan favourite. From that darling button nose and sweet little smile, to those gorgeous blue eyes, Lyla Grace was selected as the cutest baby and chosen as the image that doll collectors wanted to see re-created as an Ashton-Drake doll.
Because creating dolls from portraits requires a precise sculpting talent, we asked Master Doll Artist P. Lau, who sculpted our previous contest winners with great success, to create this very special edition. Working from the contest photograph, Ms. Lau meticulously matched not only Lyla Grace’s stunning features, but captured her adorable personality as well!
Lyla Grace is a Collector’s Edition that is first sculpted, then crafted to look as lifelike as possible. We use our exclusive RealTouch® vinyl because it has the look and feel of a baby’s soft skin. Warm flesh tones are enhanced by hand-blushing. Delicate brows and rosebud lips are meticulously hand-painted. Lashes are hand-applied and her hand-rooted hair is wispy soft. Best of all, when you hold her, she is sized and weighted to feel like a real baby in your arms. She is poseable, and as pretty as can be with her satin and lace headband and pink bubble outfit made especially for her. Simply precious!
