In 1904 Herbert Hall, M.D. established a pottery program as an element in therapy for women with nervous disorders in Marblehead, Massachusetts. The pottery program became professionalized after the hiring of Arthur Baggs in 1905. This led to the establishment of a separate for profit enterprise named Marblehead Pottery in 1908.
The Marblehead Pottery business was sold to Arthur E. Baggs in 1915. The pottery closed in 1936.
