This is a cool piece I recently acquired from an estate sale! This Antique/Vintage Carved Jade Bead would make a great pendant or addition to Prayer Beads. This appears to be one of the Eight Immortals, carved from a light green Jade with beautiful transparency. This is a smiling, elder male holding a staff in his right hand and possibly a scroll or flute in his left hand, with a crane in front of him. We believe this represents the Immortal of Long Life, Happiness, and Wisdom! This piece measures about 1 3/4 inches long, 1 1/8 inch wide, and is 3/4 inch thick. It's box measures about 4 1/4 inch long, 1 3/4 inch wide, and 1 1/8 inch thick. The Jade measures 28.98 grams or 144.90 carats!
This is in it's original box which has a beautiful brocade patterned material on the top. The inside is cushioned and lined with white satin. The bottom of the box is slightly damaged but is still intact. I was unable to locate any damage, cracks, or repairs. I also could not locate any identifying maker's marks or signatures.
