The ants you are about to receive are shipped in 8 oz containers with screen mesh and fruit for moisture. The mesh acts as a impact barrier and will protect your ants from the rough trip they need make through the postage system.

As well our ants are not kept in a fridge until they are sold.  What happens in a fridge is ants are not exposed to a source of nourishment.  They live off of what little food they have stored in their tiny body.  When that food source begins to run out within a few days they begin to starve.  So if the ants have been stored in a fridge for a week or more they are basicly starving and usually do not live that long.
The harvester ants that we look after are kept in large habitats at room temperature.  We feed them seeds and fresh fruit on a weekly basis.  We have keep harvester ants alive in these habitats for up to five months.
You can buy cheap ants that are packaged poorly or healthy ants that will arrive stress free which gives them a longer life span in your habitat.
Your ants will come with instructions and we always throw in a few extra ants.
