Description
1915 Dr Bag Apothecary Kit 96 Vials ExtrasThis is the Black Leather Bag / Apothecary Kit of Dr. Charles T. Ostrander
who practiced medicine starting around 1910 in the Central New York Region of New York State. ( Syracuse, Auburn,Seneca Falls, Waterloo NY)
The leather bag has 5 sections is filled with 96 Glass Vials of varying sizes, a stainless steel case that looks like it held syringes, 2 larger containers with screw marked “Cotton” and “Tongue Blades” and a medium tear dropped shaped container not labeled.
The is also one small envelope that has Dr. Charles T Ostrander, his address2904 S. Salina St. and Syracuse 5, NY printed on the top along with the word “Directions” followed by 4 blank lines. The envelope was used to dispense his powders and the blank lines would have been filled in with his directions for taking said medicine/powder.
I Google “Dr. Charles T Ostrander” and got a fair amount of info on him including May 15, 1919 mention in the New York State Journal of Medicine as President of the Chapter in the county of Seneca, NY. A November 1918 mention of his attending to a dead body with no autopsy and no inquest in the official proceeding of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Seneca, NY.
A 1915 mention of his attending to a 20 year old young man who had a number of large timbers fall on him.
